This contemporary yet listenable work, consists of two contrasting, yet unified, movements linked by the intertwining of thematic material. The piano part offers a chance for the soloist to explore sonorities tinged with jazzy overtones and virtuosic passages. The writing allows each of the stringed instruments to share in the melodies as well as providing the underlying textures and rhythmic interest. The world premiere of this work was presented on September 4th, 1999, by piano soloist Colin Forbes with the Musica Da Camera string orchestra. The work was well received. Many of the orchestra members stated how much they enjoyed learning and performing the work and complemented Margaret on the wonderful melodies given to all sections of the ensemble.
