This coat ('luy dao') originated from the Red Dao peple of northern Vietnam.  Covered with silk and cotton embroidery on a background of dark blue indigo cotton, the tail is richly decorated and the sleeves are capped with patterned cloth, while the top of the back has a panel of embroidery with silk tassles. The front opening is edged with embroidery and tufts of silk. This piece has some wear, but is in quite good condition and is a beautiful example of this type of coat.

Measurements Length 121 cm, width of back panel 51 cm, length from sleeve to sleeve 125 cm
