Price AUD450,00
The headdress of a marriageable girl from the Turkomen people of northern Afghanistan. The style of embroidery is typical of this region. The additional low-grade silver ornaments show elements of the Tekke tribal style (crowning piece) and the Ersari tribal style (plait jewellery). The inside of the hat is lined with paper, while the outside is covered in fine silk thread embroidery.
This is an old piece, mid 20th century, displaying considerable wear and some outside fading of colours.
